Students enjoyed celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. For the singing competition, prizes were awarded to: Ms. Shimansky’s 1st Grade Class for “Eerie Canal”, Ms. Sattler’s 3rd-5th Grade Girls for “My Favorite Things,” and Mrs. Andino’s 6th-7th Grade Girls for “Foggy Dew.” For the poetry competition, prizes were awarded to Duncan Geary (Kindergarten) for reciting, “Little Boy Blue,” Tobias Horsting (Grade 2) for “The Frog,” and Maggie Peters (Grade 5) for “The Village Blacksmith.”
For Hawthorn’s first Festival Day Art Competition, students were asked to draw an image of either the Blessed Mother or the Rosary. The following students were recognized for their exceptional work: Blaise Pidel (Grade 1), Masary Grefa-Tanguila (Grade 2), Rocco Truffini (Grade 3), Oona Archuleta (Grade 5), and Tim Laclavik (Grade 6).
For the first time, prizes were also awarded to the “Best Dressed” class. Mrs. Macalintal’s Kindergarten class, Ms. Zottoli’s 2nd Grade Girls, and Mr. Simonetti’s 3rd Grade Boys received recognition in this category.
