  • Rowing Club with Mr. Stack

This Spring, the Hawthorn Rowing Club will offer Saturday practices at Maritime Rowing Club in Norwalk CT.  Students in 5th - 7th Grade will row from 10:30 to 12:00 and students in 2nd-4th Grade will row from 12:30 to 1:30. Cost is $467 for the 6 sessions, which covers the cost of equipment, assistant coaches, and facilities. Cost should not be a barrier to participation, so please reach out to Alexis Walls with any concerns. To sign-up, please visit this link and select the appropriate option. Spaces are limited, and we need to reserve boats and assistant coaches, so please sign up ASAP if you are interested.  As more students gain experience, we will gauge interest in an advanced program with either Fall or Spring races. Do not hesitate to contact Rowing Club leader, Michael Stack (stackmp@gmail.com) with any questions.

  • Basketball Club

The Basketball Club will be led by Peter Simonetti who has played the sport at various levels starting at a young age.  Basketball Club will run on Mondays from January 5th – March 23rd.

If this awakens your inner spirit, come and join the Hawthorn School Chess Club and become the next grandmaster!

Your guide and moderator, Mr. Edelson, was raised in the art of chess, participating in competitions across the great Westchester County against the formidable opponents of his time. He was trained by his father, the original Mr. Edelson, a chess master who had the privilege of playing the renowned Bobby Fischer, an American grandmaster and prodigy who earned the title of World Chess Champion.

With the younger Mr. Edelson by your side, you will learn to appreciate the beauty of this great game as you do battle on the 64 squares of the magnificent chessboard.  Mr. Morales will assist Mr. Edelson to engage our students in the Art of Chess this year!
