On Friday, October 24th, the Hawthorn School, as represented by the Rugby Club, had its first ever interscholastic athletic contest against the Stella Maris School in Stamford CT. We played "flag" rugby but have an understanding that we will play "tackle" rugby in the Spring, at least for the 5th/6th/7th Grade. The first game was between 2nd/3rd/4th Grade Boys and Hawthorn prevailed by 30 points to 15 (5 points for a try). The 5th/6th/7th Grade Boys also won, by 30 points to 5. We couldn't have been prouder of the way our students played and their sportsman-like behavior off the field as well.
