Tuition and Affordability

Tuition and Affordability:

Tuition for all Grades (K-8) for the 2024-25 academic year is $18,500.

The Hawthorn School is committed to a quality-driven admissions process that provides access to a Hawthorn education to as many qualifying students as possible. Hawthorn uses need-based aid and scholarships to make attendance possible for qualified students who would not otherwise be able to do so for financial reasons. Need-based aid and scholarships also ensure a student body that reflects a broad social and economic mix. Financial aid is intended to supplement a family’s own resources, and recipients range from families whose ability to pay school costs is extremely limited, to families who may need only a minor subsidy to meet our tuition requirements. The general income threshold for qualified financial aid is $175,000 per family. This year over half of our students received financial assistance.

How to Apply

 For returning families:

The financial aid application for returning families will open on December 1.  Parents will be required to provide their 2023 W2s on January 31, 2024.  Qualified Aid awards will be communicated by February 15, 2024.

For new families:

New Families will be able to apply for financial aid beginning February 1, 2024.  Qualified Aid awards will be communicated by March 15, 2024, on a first come first serve basis, or as recommended by our admissions team. We encourage you to submit your application early to increase your chances of receiving assistance.

The deadline for financial aid applications is March 15, 2024. After this date, no financial aid will be available, so it's essential to meet this deadline to be considered for assistance.

  • The financial aid application must be complete and all pertinent tax documents submitted before we can make a financial aid decision.

  • All financial aid applications are confidential.

  • Returning families must fill out a new application for aid each year.

We want to ensure that every qualifying student has the opportunity to pursue their education at the Hawthorn School. If you have any questions or need assistance with the financial aid application you can reach out to our Chief Financial Officer, James Finnegan at jfinnegan@hawthornfoundation.com.
